2013 yoga workshops /// stages de yoga 2013

In 2013, I am thrilled to have a new project to bring vinyasa flow yoga to more people in the Alpilles region - both residents and visitors.  This year, I will be offering monthly yoga workshops in various locations in and around Saint-Rémy de Provence. These workshops will be either one half-day or a full day long, and focus on a particular element or family of poses or asanas and their physical and energetic benefits. The workshops will be open to beginners interested in discovering vinyasa flow yoga, as well as to more advanced yogis looking to deepen their practice.

At the end of 2012, we had our first workshop on forward bending and inverting poses, which help to turn the focus inward and recenter ourselves - just what we need in the middle of the winter and during the busy holiday season.

The theme of January's workshop will be opening, and we will explore poses and sequences that open all of the creaky corners of the physical and subtle bodies - especially the hips and shoulders, where we store tension and stress - in order to liberate our energy for the new year. The workshop will take place on Saturday, January 19th at a very special location in Les Baux de Provence. Here's a sneak preview of what's to come:

In February, we will continue the opening theme with a backbending workshop. Backbends are also referred to as "heart-opening" poses, and can work to counteract fatigue, depression, and the hunched-over posture characteristic of spending our days at a desk or in front of a computer. This workshop is confirmed for Saturday, February 16 in Les Baux de ProvenceThe afternoon session will include some partner yoga... why not come with your loved-one to share an alternative way to celebrate Valentine's Day? 

In Spring we always do a big spring cleaning, so March's workshop will be a detox special to help you wring out and rinse your tissues, cells, muscles, and organs with twisting postures and cleansing breathing techniques.  March 23 at this gorgeous house in St. Rémy de Provence.

In April, with spring in full swing, we will workshop balancing poses - both standing balances and arm balances, which require that we learn to find the strength of our core in order to expand in all directions, and root down into the earth in order to reach for the sky. Whether we balance on our feet (or one foot!) or on our hands, these poses give a sensation of power and growth, and will generate a blast of energy and a sensation of flying like the birds for which many balancing postures are named!
